It is believed that Spain has been inhabited since prehistoric times,with ancient peoples such as the Iberinans and Celts settling accross the peninsula.According to Roman Mythology and later legends,the region was connected to stories of Hercules and his travels , although these tales have no proven historical basis.Over time,Spain was influenced by the Phoenicians , Greeks , Romans , and later the Moors.However ,Spain then was not a unified country but a collection of different tribes,kingdoms and settlements.Most people relied on farming,fishing,craftmanship , and trade for their livelihood.Over time , the Christian kingdoms of Castile and Aragon grew more peacefuland eventuallyunited through the marriage of Isabella I and Ferdinand II,helping form the basis of modern Spain.
