
Azerbaijan's history, spanning over 5,000 years, is marked by its position at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, resulting in a rich, blended culture. Key eras include the ancient kingdom of Caucasian Albania, 7th-century Islamic, 19th-century Russian, and 20th-century Soviet rule, before gaining independence in 1991. Azerbaijan was the first secular Muslim-majority democratic republic in 1918.

Republic of Uzbekistan, is one of the doubly landlocked countries on earth located in Central Asia, the other being Liechtenstein. It is surrounded by five countries: Kazakhstan to the north, Kyrgyzstan to the northeast, Tajikistan to the southeast, Afghanistan to the south, and Turkmenistan to the southwest. The country has a population of more than 38.2 million, making it the most populous country in Central Asia. Uzbek is the official language and is spoken by the majority of its inhabitants
